General Instructions For Feeding Freeze-Dried Meat Products:

Simply remove patty from package, place in a dish whole or cumbled. Serve dry, or reconstitute by adding 1/4 cup to 2/3 cup of water to a large 1/2 lb. pet patty; or approx. 2 oz. water to a mini pet patty. Let soak for 10-25 minutes.

For faster rehydration, crumble first and/or use warm water (hot water will destroy the live enzymes we work so hard to protect).

If meat mixture is to be added to dry food, use one(1) cup of water for additional gravy.

After rehydrating, please refrigerate any uneaten portion; or discard if left sitting out for more than one(1) hour.

AFS meat diets really "Go Against the Grain" and aren't full of bulky, and undigestible grains.

-- NO MORE stink-up-the-room or fowl smelling thunder piles in the back yard! Animal waste stools will be small, compact and have very LOW odor, if any at all!

By feeding AFS Real Meat Diets, proper digestion can occur and you can ELIMINATE that litter box odor day after day. (Because AFS products are all about natural nutrition, no additives and/or substitutions!)

Most other pet foods build disruptive toxins within the digestive track, as well as other parts of the body. That same ill effect is the primary cause of smelly waste.

On a Strict Budget?
We understand that not all households can afford feeding our natural and nutritionally complete real raw meat diets exclusively. Therefore, as our primary concern is the health of the animal, we would like to suggest a combination diet--at least 50% AFS diet, along with another product of your careful choosing, fed each day.

For mixing a large AFS pet patty with your selected premium dry diet, use a single 1/2 lb. AFS pet patty, and 2 cups dry kibble for each 50 lbs. of animal weight (add 1 cup water, if using an AFS freeze-dried pet patty). Adjust amounts upward (to twice the amount) for expected growth, work and reproduction.

A partial feeding of AFS real meat diets will provide vital nutrients that the animal would not otherwise have consumed--improving its health to even a small degree (feeding as a supplement) will provide your pet with a higher degree of health and comfort to the level of your choosing.

CATS The AFS Carnivore Diet ~ Feeding Instructions: Cats are true carnivores, which means they must eat meat in its natural RAW form in order to obtain vital nutrients that cannot be supplied by grain-based foods alone. Recommended amounts to feed: As a GENERAL RULE... feed 2% of the cat's body weight per day (See Feeding Guide, above). Growing kittens and pregnant or nursing cats may require as much as 3%-4% of body weight per day during early growth and high performance months. In 1994, AFS made the same meat-based, fresh, raw, frozen diet for domestic felines that had been successfully nourishing, for more than 25 years, by some of the world's most expensive and "high profile" cats... valuable captive zoo cats.	DOGS The AFS Meat-Eater Diet ~ Feeding Instructions: No two dogs are alike in their metabolic rates or activity levels. Breed differences and thyroid hormone blood values also have a major impact on energy utilization. Recommended amounts to feed: As a GENERAL RULE...feed 2% of the dog's body weight per day (See Feeding Guide, above). Growing puppies and pregnant or nursing dogs may require as much as 3%-4% of body weight per day during early growth and high performance months. REMEMBER.... you can feed more or less of the diet in order to keep your dog or cat at its optimum weight.
	CAT Challenge: Cats can be Taste, Texture, Temperature and/or Smell sensitive! Therefore, changing a cat's food can be quick and easy, or a bit of a challenge. We suggest that you first introduce the AFS product that best suits your budget and/or life style, by gradually adding a bit more to each feeding of it's current pet food over the course of 7-10 days. If your cat reacts positively, great! If your cat reacts negatively, one of the below transition methods should work: Serve the AFS product close to the same temperature, as it's previous food; cool it down or warm it up to room temperature (don't bake or cook it). For the smell sensitive cat, place a small amount of food inside the cat's mouth so it gets an actual taste. Try feeding the AFS product after your cat has not eaten for 1-2 days (your cat may then be hungry enough to get past any indifferences). Try a different AFS product version (freeze-dried, rehydrated freeze-dried, or fresh-frozen). If your cat is one of the more challenging ones, please do not give up-the wonderful health rewards of natural sourced nutrition are far too great! Remember, human beings, too, have found it difficult to make the transition between salt and sugar riddled foods to more natural and wholesome ones. But, those who have succeeded report the improvement of overall health, vitality and longevity!
A Medical Cat Fact: FUS (Feline Urologic Syndrome) poses a threat to cats where crystals form in the urine and irritate the urinary tract. There has never been a report of a cat developing FUS as a result of being fed AFS "Carnivore Diet". Part of the reason for this is due to the well known fact that meat diets result in acid urine output and grain-based diets result in alkaline urine production. Acid urine is not a favorable medium for struvite crystals to form, so even if a particular cat may be predisposed to FUS, if the urine is kept acidic, the probability of crystal formation is low. Plus, the natural juices and water content of the raw meat diet insures some fluid intake, unlike dry cereal-based cat foods.
