I am writing in regard to my afghan hound, Stormy. When he was 3, he had a cough. After 4 months and going through 3 vets it was finally diagnosed as Klebsiella Pneumonia. It has re-ccurred on and off over the past 3 years and is treated with Baytril. I feel his immune system has been compromised from this illness. In August of 1996, Stormy had a discharge coming from his nose. He had to have surgery to remove a severly infected polyp from his nasal cavity. That resulted in 3 days hospitalization and an incision that went from his nose to the top of his head. I was told there was always the possibility the infection could come back and it did. I couldn't take Stormy off Clavamox any longer then a week or two. I didn't think I was ever going to get him off antibiotics. I spent thousands of dollars and even tried homopathic and herbal therapy, hoping to build up his immune system. but I didn't notice any improvement. In May of 1997 I picked up a flyer on AFS Meat Eater Diets. After reading about the food I thought I'd give it a try. I started Stormy on the frozen and dry and have been able to keep him off the Clavamox. He's had 2 occurances of the upper respiratory infection (usually when there'e a change in the weather) but, it wasn't as severe as before! This past July 4 weekend, he had one of the occurances. I was on my way to the Michigan Foralure Coursing Trial. On the way up he started coughing. I started Stormy on the Baytril when I got there, pulled him fromt he competition on Friday. On Saturday and Sun, Stormy was "Best of Breed." I feel AFS Meat Eater Diets has done wonders for this dog. I had just about given up all hope and his cat loks wonderful too. I now feed all three of my afghans AFS Meat Eater Diets. Thank you,
