Not Anymore! We have two beautiful little Malteses, our oldest being 4 years and the youngest being 7 months. The youngest one has eaten only your raw meat diet since the age of 11 weeks. She is beautiful and bright active little one. Her body is solid, her teeth and gums are beautiful and very healthy. Her coat is shinny with a pearlized sheen, no dryness to her coat. About one year ago at this time, I was in trouble with our other beloved little maltese now 4 years old. She had for sometime refused dry dog food, canned, you name it. We tried so many brands and were constantly giving away bags and cans of unused dog food. Some dog foods are so greasy and the old grease smell is strong--no wonder she wouldn't tough the food. We became very anxious about her health. She spent most all days just lying on the floor, no longer showing interest in living. We were told by a Vet that when they get hungry they will eat--this is just not always true. At that time, I began to cook her meals from recipes I found on a Maltese web site. she began to eat again but only the meat. She would pick up the brown rice, peas, carrots, whatever in her bowl that was not meat and put on her placement! I continued feeding her this way for almost one year. She was constantly wanting to eat and, now, I had a fat, short of breath dog who the Vet said was at risk for Diabetes and heart disease. Plus, her teeth had a tartar buildup and her breath was unbearable. (Yes, I brushed her teeth.) I knew I must find a diet for our Mo-Baby or we wouldn't have her around to love and enjoy. I thought to myself, she eats only the meat from her plate. I could go buy beef and feed her only the meat, but that is not a balanced diet. So online I go, whispering a prayer, and noted your web site! Mr. Mueller graciously sent a trial pack of dehydrated food. The first morning I offered the diet, I only gave her a little portion. She was so happy and excited, I did not do as you had advised and let her eat the remaining portion. No diarrhea! Every morning since last July when we started the meat diet, she runs to the refrigerator and dances while barking to me. She loves her food. Her weight is 6 pounds, as should be, her eyes are bright dark chocolate brown, and her coat is beautiful shinny and hangs very nicely. She no longer feels like a bag of bones and refusing to eat; or a sloppy fat huffy puffy Maltese when eating as she was while eating my cooked meals. I was quite honestly afraid of the possibility of parasites. but all her stool checks, as well as with the younger Maltese, have been negative of any. I could tell our Vet was a little unsure and I gave her a copy of the info from your web site after she requested one. A few months later, our little girl answered all Vet concerns. Her teeth are beautiful, gums are healthy and no bad breath. I am so grateful for your help in saving our precious Maltese's' life and for advising me on how to correctly feed our Nettie, when we first brought her home from the breeder. I think you will agree they are beautiful Malteses from the pictures enclosed. Thank you again and may God bless all at Animal Food Services. ---Mike & Linda / Mo-Baby & Nettie too! |
